ERM survey: in-house research and engagement overtake ESG ratings for investors

ERM's Rate the Raters 2026 surveyed 53 professionals at firms managing about $23.5 trillion. Trust in ESG ratings fell to 3.05 of 5 from 3.31, and ratings dropped from first to seventh as a decision source behind in-house research and engagement, though 62% expect mandatory disclosure to raise their use.
